Breast Augmentation in San Diego: Silicone vs. Saline Implants

Breast implants which are filled with saline are easily detected if they rupture. Since it is filled with liquid, if it breaks the implant deflates, noticeable almost instantaneously, and the salt water inside simply gets absorbed into the surrounding tissues inside the body.
Some San Diego breast enlargement patients say that in terms of the look and feel of the augmented breasts, silicone gel offers a more natural look and feel because it is more similar in texture to breast tissue. However saline implants can be more easily altered after surgery, depending on the needs of the patient. If a woman decides that her saline implants are too big, she can ask her doctor to simply subtract some liquid, via small valves and a long needle. Silicone implants’ size cannot be changed without another operation and a newly made implant.
