Ambience with candle bulbs

There is nothing quite as nice as dining by candle light. Whether in a formal dining room or on the beach at night, candles can help create a wonderful environment and atmosphere. They are also festive and used a lot during the holidays. No matter their size they usually set a nice tone in a room, either at home or in a restaurant. However, they are not always practical and in those situations low energy candle light bulbs can take their place.

As pretty as candles may be they are often very dangerous to use. This is especially true around children. When set on a dining table, the child may get too close to the flame and burn themselves. Or a pet running by may bump a table and knock candles over. Here low energy candle light bulbs are the perfect substitution. They have a soft glow and many even have a realistic flickering effect. And because they are of low wattage, they are generally cool to the touch. There is usually low risk if knocked over, provided they are set back up.

Even around adults candle use poses hazards. Think of the first chandeliers which had a place for numerous candles. Besides taking a lot of time to light all the wicks, a strong draft could blow something into the flames and start a fire. That is why as soon as electricity became practical for home use, chandeliers were made to use low energy candle light bulbs. Not only was the fire hazard eliminated but you could turn all the lights on at one time. Today even some candelabras use candle bulbs instead of the real thing.

Candles are also used in many seasonal decorations, although not as extensively as in the past. Back then not only were live candles placed in windows but the Christmas tree would be decorated with many candles. This required some additional decorations—water buckets kept filled and close by, ready for action. Today, most people use low energy candle light bulbs instead. They are safer and can be used for extended periods of time. Many businesses have banned the use of candles in offices to protect their employees and buildings, but will allow small decorations that use candle light bulbs.

One of the draw backs of electric lighting is the cost and the harm to the environment. That is why manufacturers are constantly coming up with improved low energy candle light bulbs. Some have switched to LED bulbs which use less wattage to give equivalent light power. Others use solar power to capture energy in the bulbs and store for later use. Due to the fact that energy efficient candle light bulbs have a longer lifespan, we change them less often and don’t have to purchase as many.

As their use has grown dramatically they are less expensive and are practical for special occasions and every day use. While traditional candles are okay now and then, low energy candle light bulbs are the perfect alternative and are a safe way to softly illuminate and set a warm ambience.
